Idaho: invasive & noxious plant laws
New laws coming: several states phase in plant bans 2027–2030. See dates and sources →
Idaho's Rules Governing Invasive Species and Noxious Weeds, IDAPA 02.06.09 (Idaho State Department of Agriculture, under Idaho Code title 22 ch. 24), designate the statewide noxious weed lists. All plants in the broom genera Cytisus, Genista, Spartium and Chamaecytisus are prohibited. Landowners must control listed weeds, and the rule bars selling or furnishing any article containing noxious weed seeds or propagating parts, including nursery stock, unless treated to destroy viability. Idaho's invasive species rules separately regulate aquatic plants.
