PlantLegitLouisiana: invasive & noxious plant laws
New laws coming: several states phase in plant bans 2027–2030. See dates and sources →
Louisiana has no general list of land plants banned from sale. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries rule LAC 76:VII.1101 (under R.S. 56:328) bars importing or transporting the listed invasive aquatic plants into Louisiana without a scientific permit. The Department of Agriculture and Forestry's noxious weed list (LAC 7:XIII.109) applies to seed purity: agricultural seed sold in Louisiana may not contain prohibited noxious weed seed. Federal noxious weeds still apply.
